Annual Giving

St Catherine’s College needs annual support because it has a relatively low endowment, and is one of the largest colleges in terms of student numbers - its endowment income per student is only 57% of the average among Oxford colleges. Fee income is gradually being reduced by the government. Despite careful financial management, the College needs to seek additional sources of funds as demands on its income are increasing. For instance, there is £4 million worth of maintenance and repair work required on its buildings over the next 3-4 years. Once provision has been made for this and other regular and essential expenditures, there is little left over to spend on new initiatives and facilities for students. Yet if St. Catherine’s College is to compete with the best that Oxford can offer, and continue to attract the highest quality of applicants, improvements must be made.
